The Grand Enchantment Trail

The Grand Enchantment Trail (GET) is a 730-mile hiking route that travels from Phoenix, AZ to Albuquerque, NM.  It is the brainchild of Brett Tucker (BlisterFree).  I call it a “route” because it is not official sanctioned by any “official” government agency such as the Forest Service or BLM.  Brett simply looked at a map and envisioned his route - stringing together a series of existing trails (including portions of the Arizona Trail and Continental Divide Trail), little-used dirt roads and some cross-country hiking.  He has spent countless hours researching, hiking, flagging, and maintaining the trail, as well as compiling an amazing online resource here including a full guidebook and town guide.  He only charges for the mapset on CD.  We owed him a big debt of gratitude before even hoisting the pack.

We started our hike on April 12, 2010 and called it quits May 29 after 550 miles at Magdalena, NM.
